2020, in retrospect, Whew! What a year. It was awesome for some people and not too awesome for some.
This article summarizes the year as a nation (Nigeria); get your tissue box if you’re an emotional
The first three months were normal until the pandemic put the entire globe on hold strut into the country. The country was on lockdown for 6 months: schools, Businesses, and Social activities. Practically, human life was put on hold; we almost lost our human touch. It was a critical period in the history of the world.
It was a bad year economically due to the COVID-19 pandemic that ravished the globe. Affected countries are still trying to recover from the strong pandemic wave, while some are experiencing the second wave of the deadly virus.
After the 6-month Pandemic break came the ENDSARS protest. A historical period that can never be forgotten. A movement for freedom and emancipation from police brutality and bad governance. The protest took place in several states in the federation. It was a display of patriotism, but it ended on a bloody note with the killing of innocent civilians, destruction of properties, abuse of human rights, and proof of an unmoved government.
Meanwhile, the music industry was there to ease the tension. Musically, it was prosperous. Artists served hits back to back. Beautiful albums, great artists.
In the fashion scene, Silks made a major comeback. Nose masks also became a fashion trends, and it seems they will be around for some while.
Washing of hands, sanitizing and social distancing are our new reality. It has become a norm.
2020 was good, but 2021 can be better. Make this year count for you, make plans and achieve them, invest in yourself, spend more time with your loved ones, form healthy relationships, have positive vibes only, and enjoy every single day. As they say, WE ONLY LIVE ONCE.
2020 created history, 2020 is history.
Cheers to 2021.
