IDENTIFYING YOUR SKIN UNDERTONES

Skin undertone

Skin undertones? Yes, undertones. There are skin undertones, as well as skin tones. Undertones are the colors underneath the skin’s surface. Skin tone and Undertone are not the same things, skin tone may change, but undertones remain constant.

Undertones help decide the right foundation color, lipstick, eyeshadow, cosmetics products, and even jewelry.

If you have ever had difficulties in finding the right foundation shade, knowing your skin’s undertone would make that easier.

3 Types of Undertone

Warm Undertone:

If the base of your skin is yellow or golden, you have a warm undertone.

Cool Undertone:

If you see hints of blue, pink, or red, then you have a cool undertone.

Neutral Undertone:

You fall in this category if you see a mixture of warm and cool colors, or your undertone is the same color as your actual skin color.

It is possible to have the same skin tone as someone but have different skin undertones.

How to identify your skin undertone

It’s pretty easy. Look through your skin at the inner part of your arm and at the veins on the inside of your wrist.
The color of your veins will help determine your undertone.
If your veins appear to be greenish, then you have a warm undertone. If they are bluish or purplish, then you have a cool undertone.

You can check if you are neutral by using Neutral colors like White, Black, and Brown shades. If you look best in white or black, you have a cooler undertone. If brown makes your skin pop, you have a warmer undertone.

You could also check using a simple jewelry test.
Place a piece of jewelry against your skin; if gold makes your skin pop, you’ll have a warm undertone. If silver does it for you, you have a cool undertone.

Pick one shade that matches your skin tone from the warm and cool undertones, the shade that disappears in the skin is the perfect shade. Remember to test your foundation color on your lower neck and chest area.

Knowing your skin undertones will help you make the right fashion decisions.
